Three years ago today…

Three years ago today I flew to Haiti to pick up F.

He was 10 months old and incredibly confused about why this white lady was holding him.   He warmed up to me quickly and was a DREAM baby on the flight back to Ohio.  We hit one delay after another and didn’t make it home until almost midnight but he was happy and sweet the whole trip.  Our mom met us at the airport and since the poor guy was so sick (horrible cough) we went straight from  the airport to the hospital.  A couple of antibiotics later and he was a new baby.   He’s turned into such a fun kid.  He’s wild and loud but also so loving and he has such a sweet heart.  I just love this kid to pieces.  :)

Can’t believe it was three years ago.

Bummed…

I’m not leaving for Haiti today as planned.  :(

Baby Bear didn’t get his visa today.  They went to the appointment and there was a mistake on his passport.  They have him listed as a girl instead of a boy.  AHHHH!  They refused to look at his paperwork.  The passport office is closed until January 8th so it looks like its going to be at least another week until we get this figured out.  I’ll keep my bags packed and ready to go, but for now – everything is on hold.

Good news is that the little girl got her visa, so she’s ready to go whenever we get there.

Please pray for Bear.  That he can stay strong and hang in there.  He really is struggling to live, and we need to pray that he can make it in Haiti for a little while longer.

THEY HAVE PASSPORTS!

<WHEW>

So – looks like everything is going to go according to plan.  I need to go finish packing!
I will update as I can.  PRAY FOR US!

Soooo….how exactly am I supposed to manage two special needs babies on an airplane?  LOL.  Looks like I’ll hopefully be bringing Fedna to TX as well.  I just pulled out the double stroller and got it cleaned up.  There is a set-back in that the passports weren’t done today like they were supposed to be.  If they aren’t done tomorrow we’re going to have to postpone their arrival until next week.  They were supposed to have their visa appts on Wednesday, but won’t be able to unless they have the passports.  And the Consulate is closed Thursday and Friday of this week.

I’ve got everything I need now for Bear and Fedna.  My sister (thanks Misty!!) gave me some stuff for Bear and my aunt (thanks Sabrina!!) gave me some stuff for Fedna and the rest of the stuff I needed for Bear.  So I think I’m ready for them.   I have their stuff all laid out, it just needs packed.  I went to Walmart and loaded up on stuff for Schnider.  I’m planning to take a suitcase of stuff for him/his family.  I’ll also take a suitcase of stuff for RHFH.  Oh – and some Christmas presents for little sister M. :)

I’ll update tomorrow and let everyone know if the babies got their passports.

Merry Christmas!

I haven’t forgotten about my blog – we’ve just been busy around here!

I just finished getting a ton of presents wrapped (I wrapped all my parents gifts too.  I know…so nice of me.)

A Christmas Story is playing in the background (some channel is doing 24 hours of it – Keith is thrilled – I am not.) Ralphie just got the dreaded pink bunny costume.  How many times can one watch this movie without going crazy? ~sigh~ “He looks like a deranged Easter Bunny…” ”

We had one family gathering today (fun!) and will have two more tomorrow.  Keith’s mom is out of the hospital  (and doing well) and we’ll be doing Christmas with her and the rest of his family in the early afternoon and then we’ll be going to my sisters house in the evening.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!  I’ll post more later.

I took pictures of all of them yesterday too – does my sister have attractive kids or what? ;)

I had a (very short) dream about this little man last night.

schniderfun

In my dream I was in Haiti standing by the river in Cazale. Schnider was standing right in front of me, looking at me. I scooped him up and gave him a big kiss. He laid his head on my shoulder and I just stood there with him for a few seconds. That is all I remember. :( I miss him so much. I was planning to go to Haiti and see him in December but there is no way we can afford it right now – the ticket prices were through the roof when I looked. Like $900. I think last time I went to Haiti they were about $450.

Keith and I are hoping to go down during his spring break in March. Hopefully it will work out for that to happen – I really want to see him.

Crazy days!

Last night – while Keith’s mom was sick in the ER, Keith’s aunt and uncles business caught fire.  Keith called the house about 11pm to see what was going on – his nephew answered the phone very upset and said that the business was on fire.  Keith and I were thinking about going over to be with his mom anyway, but when he heard that he decided we need to go.  We headed over and found craziness there.  Fire trucks from 3 counties were working on the fire, but the back building of the business is pretty much completely destroyed.  :(  While this was going on his mom was in the ER after being taken there by ambulance.  She’s been sick for about 2 weeks but got very bad yesterday and I guess she couldn’t hardly walk because she was so weak.   She’s hospitalized right now – they are giving her fluids and think she has pneumonia.   We got home about 2am last night then went back over today to check on the damage at the business and visit his mom in the hospital.  They live about an hour away, but we wanted to see if everyone was OK.  Pray for his family – they have a lot going on.

On a good note – on our way back home we have to cross a toll bridge.  Keith was being a nice driver and let someone in front of him who was stopped trying to get into traffic.  The guy must have been grateful because when we got up to the toll booth we found out that he paid our toll.  Well, Keith has his stuff ready, so he went ahead and paid for the person behind us.  I just love the thought of something like that going back from car to car.   The toll booth operator seemed pretty tickled by the whole thing.  :)
