Never say never.

Six months ago we were told by several specialists that we should never expect Jovia to stand independently.
“Impossible” they said, as they stared at her x-rays.

Week before last we were given hope and encouragement by world renowned prosthetist Kevin Carroll.  He assured us that Jovia will not only stand, but may someday walk.  “Never say never.” he told us several times.

That same week we watched a video of a sweet little boy with the same disabilities as Jovia.  He was standing.
Jovia could hardly take her eyes off the screen.

This past week we’ve been practicing every day.

Today, Jovia stood, on her own with no assistance, for 30 minutes while watching a Baby Einstein video!

I can’t wait to take her back and show all the doctors who told us “never” just what this girl can do.
We are so proud of our sweet Jovia!

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  -Philippians 4:13

  1. No WAY! This is amazing! If any child can do it, I think Jovia CAN! :) Love hearing this! Yay Jovia!

  2. Hello,
My name is Victoria Charbonneau and I work with kids in Kazakhstan. In Ashland, Virginia I have a friends who brought home their 12th child from Thailand this past winter. Hope has no arms and legs either. She does have a small “foot” that allows her to hold things, write and use the mouse on the computer. She is 6 years old and a spit fire of a girl. She swims like a dolphin. Two of her older brothers have no arms. They both can drive (cars – for real) play musical instruments and just about anything you can imagine. You may like to connect with them – Mike and Sharon Dennehy. I love seeing children find their forever home. Your family is beautiful. Many blessings to you.
