Schnider is a precious baby boy that was born in Haiti with a bilateral cleft lip and palate. Lori at Real Hope for Haiti contacted our medical advocacy program and told us about a newborn baby boy with a cleft and asked us if we would help find surgery for him in the United States. (This was before Operation Smile was going to Haiti). Of course, we said yes. We found a doctor and hospital here in Ohio that was willing to provide the medical care he needed, so Keith and I decided to host him. Schnider came to live with us when he was 3 months old. He was here for a year. He was 16 months old when we took him back to his family in Haiti. We fell head over heals in love with this precious boy and will always consider him our “first child”. We raised money to build his family a new home, support them as much as we can, get updates on him when they can send them and know we’ll see him again someday. My first blog (on blogger) was mostly about Schnider. This blog starts off right as we’re leaving to take him back to Haiti. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
